Ondertussen vindt in Portugal ook nog het wereldkampioenschap voor de Masters (H/D+35) plaats. De vorige 2 dagen vonden de qualificatie wedstrijden voor de lange afstand plaats. Deze twee wedstrijden werden bij elkaar opgeteld en op basis hiervan werd over A-finale of B-finale beslist. Als er meer dan 160 deelnemers meelopen in de qualificatiereeksen, worden de beste 80 geselecteerd voor de A-finale. Today the middle distance final took place in Änggårdsbergen (map), an area partly used for recreation.
